Principal / Director of Design

As the Director of Design, Eric brings his skills and training to all stages of a project from inception to implementation. His diverse background in the fields of landscape architecture & urban design give him a unique perspective that focuses on both the micro and macro aspects of design, paying close attention to detail with an ability to see its relation to the whole. His expertise encompasses a broad range of services including client relations, project management, rendering /creating presentations, developing technical drawings / details and following through with complete construction documents, specifications, and site observation.

Eric brings more than 20+ years of experience, having led the management and design of numerous projects. He has developed the critical thinking, decision making and observation skills necessary to make feasible complex urban, institutional, commercial and residential projects. His commitment to sustainable design and water efficient practices are evident is his past work with numerous projects achieving LEED certification.

Principal / Creative Director

As the Creative Director, Steve directs design decisions and oversees all aesthetic and technical directions of each project. He has completed numerous projects domestically and abroad and is the recipient of multiple design awards. His expertise in the fields of architecture and landscape architecture give him a unique perspective, and he creates designs that are avant-garde and stay fresh over time. Steve has guided the aesthetics in a variety of projects that include creative office campuses, streetscapes, university campuses and residential developments on all scales. He is responsible for design and construction documentation on all institutional, civic and commercial projects, working closely with clients, architects, consultants and contractors to resolve technical considerations for streetscapes and on-structure landscapes.

Steve’s contributions to projects include his technical expertise combined with a dynamic contemporary design sensibility. His approach is holistic and all encompassing, applying his depth of knowledge with a keen eye and a multifaceted range of skills, including photography, art, music and woodwork, to every project. Steve’s projects are memorable, unique and sensitive to the surrounding context and community. He creates flexible open spaces filled with sensory delights that celebrate the outdoor environment and its connection to nature.

Principal / Director of Planting Design

As the director of planting design, Alison brings creativity and precision to each of her projects, using a variety of plant colors, textures, layering and sizes to achieve her aesthetic goals. She designs experientially rich and immersive spaces that appeal to all the senses. Her plant selections celebrate the dynamic nature of gardens and the change of seasons. She is an expert in her knowledge of California plant material and has a strong background in garden maintenance. Her selection of plant palettes ensures optimal conditions for her designs to thrive with minimal maintenance.

Alison is licensed in Landscape Architecture and has a broad knowledge and understanding of California specific state regulations including those of MWELO, CALGreen, and CEQA . She is careful to incorporate best management practices, sustainability and low impact development into every project. Alison is particularly interested in creating spaces that respect the history, natural environment and culture of each site. She enjoys collaborating with clients and is extremely hands-on when a project is being installed, paying particular attention to plant layout, spacing, and composition.

In Memory Of

Ed was a founding principal who had more than 25 plus years of experience in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, and space design planning. He was an integral part of our firm and he will very much be missed. We are thankful for the time we all shared and will cherish his friendship forever.

Ed drew inspiration from both manmade and natural objects. He utilized woodworking and scaled replicas to express his ideas. His appreciation for both the aesthetic and functional aspects of architecture and landscape architecture are evident in all aspects of his work.

It was an honor and privilege to have worked alongside him, we will remember him with great affection. It’s the people that we meet that really matter, and colleagues like Ed that are very special will leave a lasting impression on our profession and everyone he came across.

We will always cherish and forever appreciate him as a great colleague and close friend. We wish we could have shared more time together in this world, but we are grateful for the time we had.
